Pick Your Candidate

Monday July 30, 2007

I can’t say that I have seen any candidate that really excites my political side. I am very glad to see Kucinich running again. I love his approach and even though he doesn’t have a shot at it he forces the other candidates to get real with the issues, their viewpoints, and how they plan to support their viewpoints if they get into office.

In effect, he’s the only “real” person up there that’s not just trying to be a protagonist for all sides (aka politician). Too bad we don’t elect real people because we collectively fall for the protagonism.

I did the Pick Your Candidate form and put in where I stand on all the issues and it scored them like this:

Gravel 29
Kucinich 27
Richardson 19
Obama 17
Edwards 13
Clinton 13
Dodd 11
Biden 10
Paul 8
McCain -4
Thompson -5
Giuliani -9
Cox -10
Brownback -16
Tancredo -23
Huckabee -27
Hunter -31
Romney -31

Mr Gravel and I only disagree on one issue (Citizenship Path for Illegals). I guess my viewpoint on that is pretty unpopular. In short I believe there already is one….more than one in fact. I’m not racist and I believe in diversity and the “melting pot”, however coming here illegally and expecting an extra hand-up is expecting too much. We have our own citizens that are poor and homeless as well. I’m all for helping people get on track, but that should be equal. No special treatment. I believe granting amnesty to people who bypassed the process is giving special treatment.

Kucinich and I disagree on a few minor points including the Citizenship question.

Everybody wants to shake things up. We all agree that there are no good candidates, right? Why not give Dennis a shot at it. One thing we can all agree on is that it would be very different and the most interesting presidential term in the last 70 years or so.

We could all look back on this time and say we sent a message and changed the country as citizens, not big corporations and lobby organizations.
