Interface of the Future

Monday August 28, 2006

Did you see Minority Report? This touch screen is the first step to realizing the interfaces that they used in the movie. Also worth noting in light of my previous post about both the tech in the movie and the tech demonstrated in this video - where is the OS? Nowhere to be found. Did they write an OS for this demo? No. They wrote a framework on top of an existing OS that supports the applications that are demonstrated.

The Difference between your car and…

Saturday August 12, 2006

This is a video of an everyday car (Fiat), a $200,000 Ferrari, and a $2M Formula 1 race car driven by Michael Schumacher. They are racing on a race course which you will recognize if you’ve ever played a computer racing game (besides NASCAR).

The catch is, the Fiat is given a head start on the Ferrari and both of those are given a generous head start by the F1 car.

I believe this track is somewhere between 2 and 2.5 miles long…and the Fiat gets a minute 23 second head star on the F1 car. Do the math on that and then click to watch the video.

Here’s what you get for the money.

Something Awful Roasts Seth MacFarlane

Friday April 14, 2006

Something Awful has posted a somewhat honoring tribute to Seth MacFarlane. A warning for the easily offended: Something Awful is one of the best sites on the internet and I love it but the title itself should give you some clue as to what the site is about.

Some people think that we only make jokes about the 80s on Family Guy, but that’s just not true. We also make jokes about the early 90s.
